Trogir (Tragurion) is frst known as a Greek settlement already in III. Century B.C.. Its importance grew up as Romans recognized potential of the city. In 8./9. Century Trogir becomes Croatian city up to 1420. when Venetians took over control of the city. This period is the most important period in which Trogir improved its cultural, social and economic importance. Artists from that period are recognized as the masters of European middle age cultural heritage. Probably that is the reason why UNESCO included this city in its list of World Cultural heritage. Most representative works are churches, their towers, chapels and Christian painting located within. After this period French took over the city and made it even more developed. People were thankful and to show that built fortress which is still one of the most important cities hot spot. Trogir also offers beautiful promenade where you can enjoy in sea and sun but also in delicious specialties made by restaurants with domestic tradition and politeness.
